Event Program
We’re almost there, the venue is getting prepped for the big day tomorrow and the organizers are being graced by the presence of the volunteers helping to set everything up.
The program has been finalized and will go along as following:
10:30-11:00 am
The official opening of the World Environment Day (WED) 2010 in Egypt.
From 11:00 – 5:00 pm
- Hands on activities
For various ages covering 4 main topics: Energy, Water, Waste and Biodiversity.
- Theatre and Jokers show
Theatre games and improvisations will be shown to create a fun educations experience on the topics of Energy, Water, Waste and Biodiversity.
From 11:00 – 6:00 pm
- Information Tent
The tent will be set up as a hub that provides general information about Energy and Water.
- Technology Area
A large display of local and international eco-friendly innovations and technologies
- Video Room
Ongoing screenings about Egypt’s biodiversity, climate change impacts and solutions andpollution.
- Art Display
A showcasing of the schools’ competition art work
- Sponsors and NGOs booths
Booths for the purpose of disseminating information to the public
1:00 to 1:30 pm
- El Zabaleen Band
The sounds of music using garbage bins
1:30 to 2:00 pm
- Songs of Hope Competition
A performance of the winners of songs of hope
2:00 to 3:00 pm
- Play
“Garbage and Recycling” a play by students from El Marg
3:30 to 4:00 pm

4:30 to 5:30 pm
- Discussion panel
Discussions about biodiversity, its links to daily life and its importance. The panel will be moderated by Dr. Youssria Hamed (Environmental Education and Community Specialist) and have the following experts:
Dr. Hassan Abou Bakr: Professor of Agriculture at Cairo University
Dr. Hala Barakat: Deputy director at the Centre for Documentation of Cultural and Natural Heritage
Dr. Antonio Del Vecchio: Director of Slow Food from region Puglia, Italy
