Wadi Environmental Science Centre (WESC)
WESC is an Egyptian non-governmental organization (NGO), field-based learning environmental science centre. It brings education to life by making learning relevant and fun. An average of 60 to 120 students, teachers, and guests from Egyptian national, international, and language schools visit the centre each day to learn about earth sciences, hands-on science experiments, and gain first-hand field experience about Egypt’s natural environment. WESC’s outdoor environmental curriculum is integrated with international and Egyptian standards for science. They also lead students on expeditions to some of the most unique protectorates throughout Egypt and organise multiple funded projects designed to train teachers about environmental learning and educate youth about water conservation and management. WESC hosted the first Egyptian WED event on 5 June 2006 at the Sawy Cultural Center, and partnered with the British Council to bring an even better WED event to Egypt on 2 June 2007, at the Azhar Park. In 2008 WESC partnerd with the British Council and Biblothica Alexandria to host the event in both Cairo and Alexandria. in 2009 WESC partnered with the Ministry of State for Environmental Affairs to host an event in Cairo.
