Egypt Weather

Egypt weather ranges from arid heat to snow at different times of the year.
During summer, the weather is hot and dry in most parts of Egypt. The hottest
months of the year in Egypt are July, June and August. At this time, it is
usually humid along the Mediterranean coast and in the delta. In the present
time, this humidity has extended to the areas around Cairo. Winter seasons are
characterized by mild rains though it is normally bright and sunny with cold
nights in Egypt. However, extreme temperatures during both the summer and winter
seasons are moderated by the popular northern winds. This helps to make the
weather more comfortable for human existence.

In Egypt, the coastal region has an average annual temperature ranging between
37° C and 14° C. There are great variations in temperatures in the arid regions.
This ranges from 46° C in daytime to a minimum of 6° C during the night. These
desert temperatures may drop to 0° C during winter seasons. The most humid region
of Egypt is the area along the Mediterranean coast. In these areas, there is an
average yearly rainfall of around 200mm. There is a decrease in precipitation to
the south of the country. Moreover, Egypt weather is also characterized by an
average rainfall of at least 29mm every year with many desert locations receiving
little rainfall once in many years.

Sandstorms may occur intermittently within five days which are known as khamsin.
These sandstorms occur between the month of March and April. The sandstorms blow
in various places according to the storm direction. They are some of the perils
experienced in the desert when burly winds blow up broad and tall clouds of sand.
These sandstorms can go as high as 6 kilometers into the air. They lead to
unpleasant sand clouds in various places of Egypt.

The winter season is marked by cold weather contrary to the anticipations of many
people. Winter season occurs during the months of December and January. At such
times, cold winds blow through the desert both during sunrise and sunset. Even
when the weather is warm outside, it is at most times cold inside the Egyptian
massive stone temples. In addition, showers may also fall in most places and this
means that people require warm clothing to cope with the Egypt weather during the
winter seasons. Even downpours may also be experienced during winter times. These
heaven downpours may cause flash floods because the rain water does not sink into
the hard ground.

The areas around the highlands have different weather experiences. They have
cooler temperatures with very low temperatures during summer. In addition, snow
can fall on the highest mountains during the winter seasons. During summer, the
temperatures are also lower as compared to those in most other areas. The weather
is also different along the north, east and south coast in Egypt. Throughout most
parts of Egypt, it is warm during the day and cold during the night. Moreover,
there are only two seasons in Egypt which are differentiated by the changes in
temperatures and prevailing winds. In this connection, Egypt weather is hot in
summer and cold in winter.
